Facebook Recruiting

I feel like there’s been a decent amount of momentum in the past 18 months regarding Facebook becoming a tool recruiters will use for sourcing and connecting.   IE, it’s not news to say “you should use Facebook to recruit!!”.    However, from what I’ve seen, very few are making great use of it or owning it as a productive tool.   (We specialize in Manufacturing, Engineering and Management– so perhaps there are IT Firms or other industries that are way ahead of us with Facebook – but I suspect most are tiptoeing in like us…)

So recently, a few people here at Aegis Worldwide decided to go for it and, much to my surprise,  they’ve gotten placements via Facebook! (in Skilled Trades, no less!!!).  Our firm/I finally decided that it’s time to make a spot for Facebook in our “top 3” sourcing sites and I think you should too.

Before I go on, there’s already a great blog written about how to best use and manipulate Facebook from a technical standpoint.   Todd Davis did a masterful job with this piece on Sourcecon:

If you’ve had trouble with figuring out how to do just a simple search, the above blog links this tool (it’s AMAZING), that is compatible with Chrome, that makes sourcing a breeze.

UIDextractor V7.0 2015 Super Engine.

Soon, we’ll be rolling out company-wide goals regarding Facebook usage and production from it and I know it’s going to have a big impact on our company’s success.   I think it’s pretty clear that Facebook wants to eventually monetize its resources to folks like us (who would pay a pretty penny to access their billions of users in a more targeted fashion).

Take advantage now while it’s still free (or relatively cheap!!).  There are definitely some unique challenges involved – but you know what, figure it out.  It’s a tool that works.  Use it and decide that you’re going to make it work for you, whatever obstacle.

It’s not all that dissimilar to LinkedIN in the early days, at least from a skepticism standpoint.  I was definitely skeptical, but joined;  had small successes; used it a little more – and then one day it just became the default tool for any business networking I needed to do (Sales or Recruiting).

In 3 years, the most successful recruiters will be netting 10-25% of their starts, annually, from Facebook (IMO, of course).   Get a jump on your competitors and use this tool that others are still resisting to a large extent…

Happy Hunting-
